Binghamton Airport History


The official name of BGM airport is Greater Binghamton Airport. In 2003, it was officially changed from Link Field-Broome County Airport due to a marketing campaign designed to capitalize on the city of Binghamton. The original name given to the airport was Broome County Airport in 1951 when the airport officially opened and that name was used through the decade of the 1970s. The construction of the Binghamton Airport began in 1945. It is geographically located on Mount Ettrick in Maine, New York.

Today the airport is home to numerous regional flights to key cities like Philadelphia, Washington DC, and Detroit. Binghamton Airport also has general aviation services available.
