Haven't flown from Wilkes-Barre AVP for a while, heard they're adding new flights again. It will be interesting to see if the airport can rise to its former glory again.

Heard the news today that American Airlines is leaving Scranton-Wilkes-Barre Airport. Sorry to see them move out. Hopefully service to Chicago will continue.

This is a small quaint airport and not very busy except for the earliest morning flights out of Wilkes-Barre. Most local people still call it the Avoca airport which is its old name.

Just thought I'd chime in on my experience at Avoca airport (or Wilkes-Barre International as it is also called). Security line was quick and painless on departure, and on arrival, which was late evening, the place was so empty it was almost scary. No complaints however, I guess this is life at a small airport.
