Looks like I'm going to spend some time in Oklahoma City just before Christmas. I'm going to try to squeeze in some tourist stuff so thanks for the great info in this thread.

Also, the Old Paris Flea Market is a neat place if you like to browse through the second hand market. They sell beer there too, it keeps your nerves under control while you shop.

AVP Airport

Any thoughts or tips on traveling to AVP airport? (AVP Airport Tips)

This is a smaller airport but it is updated and really clean

How are the security lines at AVP? (AVP Security Wait)

Security lines are the worst at about 5 to 6 AM, after that the airport isn't that busy.

Are there restaurants at AVP? (AVP Airport Restaurants)

Yes they have a small restaurant called "Wings" last I knew, also there is a "Dunkin Donuts", that's about it

Beware of the numerous roundabouts outside. They are way too complicated for most drivers. They actually put stickers shaped like jet planes on the rod to guide flyers into the airport. Sounds silly until you see how complex the roundabouts are.

They have the usual rental car companies, you shouldn't have a problem renting a car here.

If you need a rental car at OKC I would advise you reserve ahead of schedule. OKC airport has run out of rental cars on more than one occasion. Trust me on this, book the car before you get there.

I have been down to Bricktown, lots of good food down here. They have built this part of the city really nice. So Bricktown is recommended if you want some beer and food. There is a Coyote Ugly bar down here too if you're into partying.

So Bricktown OKC for food and beverage. There are also casinos in the area but you'll have to get on the highway and drive a bit if you want to gamble.

Also Devon Tower, the city's tallest skyscraper has a restaurant near the top, and I heard there is a revolving restaurant somewhere in OKC but that one I'm not sure.

There's a women's aviation museum near the airport too if you like museums, airplanes, and women.

Hotel Reviews?

I think it is a good idea to review hotels but I do think that reviews that are divided up into the specific hotels or hotel chains would work better.

What are the safest hotels?

I've never seen a report of the safest hotel chains. I haven't been specifically looking for something like that but a list of the safest hotels probably is a good idea. I'm just not sure it would be practical to make a hotel reservation based on that info alone. Remember, a Double tree hotel in a major city may be less than than a Double tree hotel located in a suburban environment and that wouldn't make this chain any less desirable.

Oklahoma City has wild weather. Everything for ice storms, to 110 degree heat to tornadoes. It seems like there are no real mountains there.

As for Oklahoma City dining, it seems like you can find any restaurant chain on earth down here, the area seems big on the chains.

As for Oklahoma City attractions, check out Bricktown oklahoam City and take a ride on the canal. There's some better restaurants down by the canal
